The executive panel from our model association presented a case study containing real data regarding their membership, revenue, and the trends affecting their industry and profession.

The two teams each had an allotted time to ask questions of the executive panel. When the time was up, the teams broke out into separate rooms and each devised a proposal intended to exploit the vulnerabilities of the model association and create new value propositions and models that would disrupt not only the model association, but also its profession and industry sector.
Once the teams returned to stage they each had the opportunity to present their proposals to our judges.
Read the pitch from the Association Leader team.
Read the pitch from the team of Entrepreneurs.
After hearing the pitches, the judges retired to deliberate. During deliberations, an association executive moderator together with a team of association leaders facilitated a discussion among audience members to define key issues, what they believed were the criteria for success, what lessons they learned from observing, and which team they thought would win.
The panel of judges returned to the stage and presented the Innovation Edge winning team, and provided the rationale for their decision.
Summary of Key Points
The Association Team presented a compelling strategic argument that would significantly enhance the current trajectory of ASNP by refocusing on patient outcomes by leveraging digital capabilities and providing a more robust capacity, governance, and capability for speed and decision-making than its current organization and governance enable.
The Entrepreneur Team presented a more compelling business case that addressed clear strategic needs in terms of “member first” (residents and pipeline of potential new members) along with proven entrepreneur experience and solutions, coupled with phased business model that showed outcomes that leveraged brand, learning, collaboration, risk management, and methodical measured milestones (without past legacies to overcome).
